Buxted Parish Council
News release – PARISH PLANS
5st
November 2003
Your future in your hands !
Buxted Parish Council is
inviting residents of the Parish (Buxted, High Hurstwood, & Five Ashdown
villages) to take it's future into their own hands, by helping prepare a Parish
Plan.
Parish Plans are part of a
Government-sponsored initiative to help breathe new life into rural communities,
and help local people develop their own neighbourhoods the way they want.
Key to the project is that every
person living or working in the community will have a say, from toddlers to OAPs.
"This is a great
opportunity for our village," says Parish Council Chair, Alison Crowe,
"The important thing about this scheme is that everyone gets a chance to
contribute. When the plan is drawn up it will be there to provide policy and
direction and as concrete evidence to support village initiatives, applications
for grants, planning issues and much much more"
The council is writing to all
groups in the villages asking them to put forward their ideas about how Buxted
Parish should look and run itself in the future. There'll also be public
meetings, and a questionnaire for every household to fill in.
The first meeting will be at
Buxted Primary School, on Wednesday 26th November starting at 7:30 pm. There
will be further announcements on village notice boards, and in the press. There
will also be announcements on the Parish website at http://www.buxtedvillage.org.uk
