Next Step

Minutes of the meeting of  16th October  2007 at 7.45pm at the

White Hart Pub.

Present: Laura Warner,  Michelle Warner, Claudia Vince,  Amelia Johnson, Millie Spink,   Simon Roys , Alice Endersby,  Ruby Taylor, Sam Pearson

Apologies:

1.                  The group elected Alice as chair for the meeting.

2.                  Minutes form the last meeting, these were approved.

3.                  Report from the Parish Council.  Michelle  reported that it was unlikely that waste bins would be provided on the recreation ground as there was no-one to empty them.  Michelle has applied for a Young Partners Award.

4.                  Travelling Trends Fashion company has been approached about putting on a fashion show. Womens clothes only could be provided. The event is free but at least 80 tickets must be sold. Next Step members would be models. It was felt that although 80 tickets was a significant amount – this would be achievable.  The ticket price suggested was £5.00 for adults to include a drink, with a much reduced price for under 18’s of £1.50-£2.50.  To be decided.

5.                  Michelle has applied for a Young Partners Award. There are cash prizes for winners of each region and a presentation dinner for winners. Winners can use the Young Partners logo on their stationery.

6.                  Wealden DC will soon have available for youth groups, free of charge, the following equipment – a mobile skate park – need an area the size of a tennis court, an activity wall with basketball post, football post etc or drama workshops. It was unanimously decided that the drama workshops would be most popular- but more details are needed.  Michelle to find out more.

7.                  There were no ideas for future facilities.

Discussion on Transport- Simon reported that ESCC have now decided that he does live 3 miles away from UCTC and he has a bus pass. He is now generally late to school because the Hadlow Down bus runs late.

The date of the next meeting will be Tues 27th November 2007 at 7.45pm  at the White Hart Pub.
