Next Step

Minutes of the meeting of 26th February 2008 at 7.45pm at the White Hart

Pub.

Present: Laura Warner, Michelle Warner, Amelia Johnson, Millie Spink, Sam

Pearson, Jamie Grocott, Thomas Hoggan, Oliver Goward,

Apologies: Ruby Taylor, Alice Endersby.

1. The group elected Sam as chair for the meeting.

2. Ollie was welcomed to the group and introduced although he knew most members.

3. Minutes from the last meeting, - to be agreed at the next meeting.

4. Parish Council report, - Michelle reported that the Parish Council had been very supportive of the Leadership Course and would fund this qualification. Simon and Charlotte have attended the course at Hindleap Warren and although it was muddy and exhausting, they enjoyed all the activities. The Ionides Trust have been informed that Sam would be prepared to join as a trustee.

5. Youth Opportunity Fund. The application form for a basketball post has been completed by Laura. The funding requested is £442.10. Some Next Step members were required to sign the form. Michelle said that those who signed should be available to attend a interview in Lewes to discuss the funding if invited. The application was signed by Sam, Laura & Jamie.

6. The drama workshop was held on 22 February, Michelle said that it would be good to report back to Helen Markwick at Wealden, as WDC had funded the event. Those who had attended enjoyed the morning- all liked the Giants & Goblin game, the soap was good, Jamie was not sure about the opera scenes. It was agreed that another session should be arranged if possible, it would be good to have the same leaders- Sam & Kev. Michelle said that she had some good photos of the drama and wanted to include them in Community Voice with the Next Step article. Laura said the pictures were a bit embarrassing. It was decided that all pictures would need to be vetted before use. It was decided that it would be good for Next Step to attend the Buxted Players next play- Fawlty Towers.

7. Community voice articles, Simon to be chased for his Leadership weekend article and Act on it to be written up as discussed at this meeting.

8. Fashion show, Thursdays had been the agreed day but there are none available until September – it was agreed to book Monday 2^nd June.

9. Quiz. Sam thought that this should still go ahead.

Any other business. Amelia said that her family were having problem with parked cars blocking their drive. Michelle asked if they had white line marking the drive. Amelia to let her parents know they can contact Colin Reed.
