Minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting of 8 April 2008 held at 7.00 pm. in the Village Hall High Hurstwood.    

Present: Cllrs. Sheard (Chairman), Chalmers, Crowe, Coxon, Daniel and Warner. Cllrs. Dopson, Downing and Warner. WDC Cllr. Buck.

Cllr. Treacher declared a personal interest in respect of planning application WD/2008/0630/F for Russetts, Burnt Oak Road by being an acquaintance of a neighbour.

Location: Forest Gate, Uckfield Road, Crowborough

Description: Demolition of workshop/ store. Erection of single storey office/ garden room

No objection. The Council suggests that the applicant considers sedum or turf on the flat roof.

Application No. WD/2008/0224/LB

Location: Buxted Park Hotel, Buxted

Description: Conversion of 4 no. existing buildings to form 15 no. new bedrooms together with leisure facility.  Minor extensions to form bedroom entrance/bathroom and gymnasium.  External works to improve courtyard area between the above buildings.

Application No. WD/2008/0630/F

Location: Russetts, Burnt Oak Road, High Hurstwood

Description: Replacement garage with rest room

The Council objects to this application unless the garage is tied to the house as an ancillary building - ideally by a Section 106 agreement - that appropriate screening is reinstated (it was removed shortly before the application was considered) to screen the building from the adjoining property, that the use of other ancillary buildings as living accommodation is stopped and that permitted development rights are removed. The height of the proposed building is considerable and measures to reduce it should be assessed.

Location: Roselea, Coopers Green

Description: Rear dormer and loft conversion

Applicant: Mr & Mrs A Barnes

Agent: Mr G A Parr

The Council objects to this application. The design of the proposals is out of character with the area and is considered an overdevelopment. The size and position of the proposed dormer, notwithstanding that it has been slightly reduced in this latest application, will have a detrimental visual effect and is not in accordance with the Wealden Design Guide Section 10.7 para 7.5. Any removal of trees and hedges will results in overlooking of neighbours.
