Buxted Parish is largely situated in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has many varied and interesting walk including parts of the famous Weald Way and the Vanguard Way.

There are approximately 100 paths in the Parish covering some 27 miles. All the local paths are numbered and recorded. They are identified on specially marked up copies of the Ordinance Survey 6" to 1 mile series (1:10560), sheets TQ42NE, TQ42SE, TQ52NW & TQ52SW Copies of these maps are held by the Parish Council Footpaths Sub-Committee, can be viewed at local highway authorities, local libraries, and can be bought by members of the public from East Sussex County Council. Buxted Parish Map TQ 42 NE covers the north west of the Parish, primarily High Hurstwood and up to the A26 at Poundgate
Buxted Parish Map TQ 52 NW covers the east end of Fowley lane and Burnt Oak Road
Buxted Parish Map TQ 42 SE covers west Buxted, Five Ashdown, Coopers Green, and Buxted Park

The paths are maintained by local landowners, East Sussex County Council, and by Buxted Parish Council.

The Parish Council undertook a comprehensive survey of all the paths in 2000, and this is now in the process of being updated by the current PC,
